How to explain nebula to a five years old?

A nebula is like a big cloud in space. It’s made of gas and dust, and it can be different shapes and sizes. Sometimes, stars are born inside nebulas. They start out as small balls of gas, but they get bigger and bigger until they become bright stars like the Sun.

Nebulas can be colorful too! They can be red, blue, or purple. This is because the gas and dust inside the nebulas glow when they are close to hot stars. It’s like when you see a rainbow in the sky after it rains.

Some nebulas look like shapes, like a butterfly or a horse. Astronomers use special telescopes to take pictures of nebulas and study them. They can learn a lot about how stars are born and how galaxies are made by looking at nebulas.

You can see some of the nebulas in the sky if you have a telescope. But the best way to see nebulas is through space pictures taken by the astronomers. They are beautiful like a painting in the sky.
